Can the Ice Bath be used outdoors?
Yes!
We engineered our Ice Baths to be weather and UV resistant, so you can set it up inside or outside, even in temperatures below freezing.
If you use the Chiller outdoors, be cautious in freezing conditions, and follow the recommendations in the manual that comes with your chiller
Is the Ice Bath & Chiller Waterproof?
Yes—our ice baths and chillers are engineered to be water and weather-proof. However, standard precautions should be taken for any exposed electrical components when using the equipment outdoors, and we recommend covering your chiller in extreme weather conditions.
How much does it cost to run?
The cost to run the chillers are about $0.50c a day, assuming the cooling time per day for the UltraX2 is 8-12 hours and the UltraMax 3-4 hours.
Both the Ultra X2 and UltraMax models come with mobile app control, so you can activate the chiller only when you need it—dramatically reducing electricity usage.
Additionally, once the chiller reaches the set temperature, it will move to standby mode and only turn back on when its moved 2°C outside the set range.
Finally, the insulation of the Vital+ Ice Baths are extra thick which keeps the water cold, meaning less need for the chiller to be functioning.
Does it include a lid?
Yes all our Ice baths include a lid. Please note that only our Barrel and Pro models come with a lockable lid
How often do I change the filters?
The internally built filters will need to simply be washed weekly and will never need replacement.
The 20micron filter that comes with the UltraMax (and can be purchased for the Ultra X2) will need to be replaced every 5-7 weeks.
Which Chiller is right for me?
The Ultra X2 is a great entry level product that will suit most residential homes.
For those requiring more power, faster cooling, and a more advanced filtration, the UltraMax could be a more preferred option.

Six months in still very very happy.
My first chiller unit died after about a month and the company sent a replacement immediately. Great service!
I disassembled the broken unit to see if I could determine the cause of the failure and found the remains of a critter of some kind that had shorted things out, so no reflection on the quality of the chiller unit itself.
I have also managed to reduce the power consumption by about 2/3.
I observed that by the design of the system, when the chiller is not active but the pump is still circulating water, the chiller starts to act as a reverse heatsink, and the water will warm much faster than if the pump is not running. This effect is quite pronounced when the ambient temp is high, and the chiller will need to run repeatedly during the day. Having the system completely off once at desired temp the water will stay cold much longer.
I geeked out and bought a smart plug to automate this and measure power consumption. This is programmed it to switch everything on at 3am and switch everything off when the chiller stops drawing power. So it only runs during the coldest time of day and then the bath stays colder much longer as the pump isn't pumping cold water through the inactive chiller!
Uses about 1.2 kWh/day with this - under 50 cents.
